I need to see real growth in metrics like customer acquisition and trading volume before making a deeper commitment. From what I can tell, the news about EDXM will only be positive for Coinbase if it helps to expand the pie for the crypto industry as a whole. That's right -- they think these 10 stocks are even better buys. Independent nature of EDXM would also restrain the firm from the possibility of conflicts of interest. EDXM needed to prove its utility to stay relevant within the crypto space though. For now, I'm taking a wait-and-see backed crypto exchange with Coinbase. Meanwhile, the EDX exchange would work to accommodate both private and institutional investors.
When I first read Volman's book, I was impressed by his writing style and clear-headed, no-nonsense approach But in my experience with reviewing mechanical systems and with backtesting some of those, I have never seen a fixed-stop system to work. Inevitably you have enough of a series of fixed losses, that it either destroys the entire profit or results in an unsustainably large drawdown.
Now Volman is not a system trader, he is a discretionary trader. Sometimes it is difficult to translate discretionary methods into a mechanical method, which means it cannot be backtested. Which means the only way to know whether it works is by looking at actual trading results over a long period of time. I should have paid more attention to this in my initial review. Basically at this point, I would recommend this book in order to learn some good, solid concepts of price behavior, but not to take the trading strategies at face value unless the author can actually prove that he has consistently made money using fixed stops.
By "fixed stop" I mean your stop is always 10 ticks or some constant number below your entry point. Okay I've read the first 80 pages carefully and I feel like I can make an accurate review, assuming the rest of the book maintains the same quality as the first 80 pages.
A very well written and excellent, detailed description for various techniques of getting into and out of trade using different setups, breakouts, etc. The author uses a short time frame and the Forex market, but these methods apply equally on any timeframe and on any market with similar volatility and fluidity. In addition to the trading methods, there are general words of wisdom sprinkled throughout, which should be helpful to newbies or traders having difficulties with hesitation, emotional trading, etc.
My personal reason for picking up this book was to see how it compares to my own techniques for trading CL futures. Most of what I know about price behavior is self-taught, taken from my observations. Basically I'm seeing very similar things discussed in this book. There's many ways to slice an orange, sometimes they end up being variations of the same theme. Probably any two individuals who spend enough time observing price behavior are going to end up drawing the same conclusions. Forex price action scalping ignores all elements of fundamental analysis in favour of a technical approach, and these types of traders do not take into account other external factors that could affect the price of a currency pair.
For example, some key economic indicators that impact the price of foreign currencies include inflation, economic growth, supply and demand, trade status, interest rates and account balance. In particular, forex scalping signals are important, due to the speed of the trade.
In the forex market, both long-term and short-term signal providers target a number of pips to help scalpers spot potential opportunities when the market is particularly volatile, or equally, when it is quiet and there is less liquidity. Forex scalping signals are based on economic events, such as the ones we have discussed above, or forex scalping indicators.
Most traders use a forex scalping system that allows them full exposure to graphs, pips and forex technical indicators with access to major city trading times across the globe. Technical analysts in particular study price charts to look for opportunities at the busiest times of the day, and are required to stay fully concentrated. Below are some examples of popular indicators that we offer on our online trading platform.
Bollinger Band scalping is particularly effective forex scalping indicator for currency pairs with low spreads in the forex market, as these are the least volatile and if executed correctly, can gain the forex scalper multiple profits at once. Moving averages for scalping forex There are multiple moving average lines on a typical forex graph. Some of the most commonly used forex indicators for scalping are the simple moving average SMA and the exponential moving average EMA.
These can be used to represent short-term variance in price trends of a currency. A moving average graph is one of the most frequently used forex scalping indicators by professionals through its ability to spot changes more rapidly than others. Forex RSI scalping The relative strength index RSI is a momentum oscillator that predicts the future direction of the forex market over a period of time. Short-term traders, such as day traders and scalpers, can shorten the default settings of the RSI to monitor just minutes at a time, in order the best entry and exit points.
Measuring momentum is useful within the forex market for traders to find a suitable strategy for the current environment. When trading multiple positions at the same time, it can be difficult to properly monitor the technical charts and focus is more often lost.
It is advisable to only trade currency pairs where both liquidity and volume are highest. Scalping is very fast-paced and therefore major currency pairs need liquidity to enable the trader to dip in and out of the market at high speed. Scalpers often have a specific temperament or personality that reflects the risky method of trading. Scalping requires concentration, analytical skills and a decent amount of patience, allowing scalpers to make hasty decisions with the hope of making a profit.
This is because they will be dipping in and out of the market very frequently and these currencies have the highest trade volumes and the tightest spreads to minimise losses. The tighter the spread, the fewer the number of pips the rate has to move before your trade is in profit. However, some more experienced traders may prefer to scalp minor or exotic pairs, which generally have higher volatility than the major currency pairs but carry greater risks.
Best time for scalping in forex There is a general consensus between traders for the best times to scalp forex, although this does depend on the currency. For example, trading a currency pair based on the GBP tends to be most successful throughout the first hour of the London trading session, mid-morning.
However, the best time to trade any major currency pairs is generally throughout the first few hours of the New York trading session, as the USD has the highest trading volume. Some scalpers also prefer to trade in the early hours of the morning when the market is most volatile, though this technique is advised for professional investors only, rather than amateurs, as the risks could create greater consequences. Is forex scalping profitable? The forex market can be volatile and instead of showing small price fluctuations, it can occasionally collapse or change direction entirely.
This requires the scalper to think with immediate effect on how to ensure that the position does not incur too many losses, and that the subsequent trades make up for any losses with greater profits. Other risks of scalping include entering and exiting the trade too late.

So a different approach is needed for Forex price action scalping. We will be trading trend continuations. We will be watching for price action signals which indicate a trend is strong. We will then trade a continuation when price pulls back to a area of support or resistance.
This may sound simple but it is very stressful. One key component of this strategy is that you must maintain a risk to reward ratio of at a minimum. We will be looking for trend continuations. We will enter when price pulls back to our areas of support or resistance. We will only enter a trade if our target is 3x larger than our stop. That third point is the stressful one. When a trade is two pips from target and then reverses five pips… many people just close it out. You cannot do that, you must maintain the ratio.
Even if it means your stop being hit, you have to stick to I will explain this in more detail later. First we need support and resistance You will need to draw the support and resistance areas yourself. These rules do not only apply to scalping Forex price action, they are also used for my normal support and resistance areas: Recent data is always more important.
Body bounces are more important than wick bounces. Rule one is very simple. When placing support and resistance areas, fresh data is always better than old data. This is even more true on small time frames. Price action formations that occurred twenty minutes ago are more significant than formations that occurred two days ago.
So when placing support and resistance, make sure you prioritize recent data. Generally I only look at the last. Rule two may be a little harder to understand. I will explain it in more detail in the examples below. Step 1: Identify bounces The first step to placing support and resistance is to identify bounces on your chart. Ideally you will want several bounces that line up nicely. I have highlighted three sets of obvious bounces. The lower set mark out a support area, they are highlighted green.
The higher set mark out a resistance area, they are highlighted red. Bounces will not always be this obvious. However, the more obvious the bounce the stronger the area; so you should only try to identify the most prominent bounces. Step 2: Draw a horizontal line and connect the bounces Once you identify several bounces, draw a horizontal line between them and join them.
It is really that simple. You look for strong bounces and place lines there. Support and resistance can be more complicated on larger time frames. However, on 5 minute charts, it really is easy. Now remember rule two? Body bounces are more important than wick bounces? You will notice in the image above I place my line at the candle bodies, not at the wicks. I do not like placing support and resistance at the wicks.
I prefer to have my support and resistance where candles are likely to form. I am considering adding a video on support and resistance placement. Feel free to send me an email to let me know if you need a video to clarify this subject. Second you need to know how to spot a setup You should now have a good understanding of how to place support and resistance areas. The next step is actually finding trade setups. And I am going to show you exactly how to do that. There might be a small problem though.
If you do not understand candlestick pattern and trend basics, the stuff below might not make sense. If you find that your are struggling with the concepts below, jump over to my price action basics in the Forex education section. In there I cover basic price action and candlestick pattern concepts.
Once you understand those concepts, the stuff below will be easy. Well in this case, that saying is kind of true. We want to use price action to determine the trend, get a good entry and ride it for a short while. You should already know how to identify a dominant trend, I talk about this in the education section linked to above.
But the thing about trends is that they are rarely, if ever, smooth. Trends move like this: See how buyers push back up to the former support after sellers break through it? In a bearish trend, sellers are in complete control of price.
Buyers try to take control all the time. Sometimes buyers take control briefly but sellers regain control and continue trending down. Here is an example of how trade continuation scalps play out. The image below is a gif, it will play like a video and show you how trade continuation trading works.
The basic concept is to trade with the trend. Using candlestick analysis with support and resistance allows you to determine if the trend is still alive. If the trend is still alive, you enter a trade for a quick pips. The Forex price action scalping strategy You now know how to place support and resistance areas.
You also know what a trend continuation looks like. All you need to do to trade this strategy is put these two things together. I am now going to show you how to do this with a lot of examples. An area of support is placed at 0. Sellers manage to break support at 0. Buyers take brief control of price and push it up to the former 0. Buyers make several attempts at closing above the 0. Since buyers cannot close above the 0. The short is entered because price is trending down and it is clear buyers cannot regain control of price.
That is a trend continuation. Why is the setup above a good trade? This analysis would be done when price hits the resistance area and struggles to break above it. The major trend is bearish, this indicates sellers are in control of price one point for sellers Buyers caused a minor reversal back up to resistance, this indicates that buyers have some power one point for buyers Price is at a strong area of resistance one point for sellers Buyers are incapable of closing above the resistance area one point for sellers Sellers have three points, buyers have one point.
This risk analysis is basic, we could do more complex risk analysis but a strategy like this does not need it. These indicators are among the best custom indicators that guarantee a high return on investment.
